PAHO Asisstant Director visited Belize to attend a Subregional Health Systems Strengthening Seminar

The Assistant Director of PAHO, Dr. Carissa Etienne, visited Belize from May 30 - June 2, 2006 to participate on the Subreagional Health Systems Strengthening Seminar which was held a the Princess Hotel and Casino, Belize City.

During her visit, Dr. Etienne also held meetings with the Minister of Health, Hon. Jose Coye, and other Health Officials. She also took time to visit health facilities including the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, Cleopatra White Health Policlinic, the Voluntary and Counselling Center for HIV, and the Hattieville Health Center where she interacted with staff.

On Thursday, May 31st, Dr. Etienne made a presentation to over ninety five participants from all sectors of the Belizean Society on the Influenza Pandemic and the state of preparedness of the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean.
